Copper Spot is a fungal disease that impacts Bentgrass lawns. It appears as small pinkish-orange to copper spots that are 1 to 3 inches wide and eventually enlarge and darken. Grass blades within the "spots" are dead; however, grass in the center of circles may recover, creating rings. You may also see spots or lesions on individual grass blades. Copper spot can look very similar to Dollar Spot and Anthracnose, and is most common in warm, humid or wet weather.
Cultural Solutions
• Avoid over-fertilizing.
• Do not mow or walk on wet grass.
• Have soil tested. Add lime if pH is below 6.
